Music Score 2009.12.10

David Giró has also involved four young singers for some of the songs of the music score. Pau, Enrique, Maria and Belize have worked like excellent professionals with all the others in performing songs such as “Animals can be friends” or “Take us home”. Even Giró was taken with their work: “they are not scared at all despite their ages, they can sing whatever right away and as many times as required”.

Making Magic 2008.12.23

After two months shooting in locations in Africa and Barcelona, we need over a year and a half of work in order to create CGI characters that will interact with the real characters of the film. This we are doing at Entropy Studio in Zaragoza, Spain.

60% of the film is computer generated, and the work is double than usual since it is a stereoscopic 3D film. This means that we work with two sources of image, one for the right eye and another for the left eye. And besides, we work at 4K, which is two times the usual image resolution. So actually, the work rather than double is quadruple...

Lions Love Mops 2008.07.01

This will be a complicated shooting because we have to shoot a lion hunt. And the lion's movements will be absolutely unpredictable. He might run on the opposite direction we need, he might lay down... we also have some limitations like the fact that we will be shooting on a 60 meter space were we have to make the truck follow the lion, which is way too small. And lions run incredibly fast! That's something we've learned. So the wrangler's idea to make the lions run is to have a "moving" mop as if it were a rabbit or something they want to hunt. Well, it didn't work quite as we imagined.

Cages 2008.06.30

We will be shooting a lion hunt in which a lion and a lioness are being chased by hunters. But I've heard the lion is a quite fierce one and we need everyone to be safe. That's why we are constructing cages for the crew, specially the cameraman, to work inside them and be safe from the lions. These cages might not look great, but they will be safe, stable and strong. This is why it's better to have a grip do this. Carpenters make things nice, we make things work. Take a peek at how us, grips, work.
